How to Spot a Gas Leak
- You may hear hissing or whistling sounds
- Water may look ‘cloudy’, or bubbles and dust may appear
- Visible damage to gas line connections
- Plants may suddenly die
- You have the following symptoms:
- Continuous headache
- Throat and eye irritation
- Feeling nauseous
- Ringing in your ears
- Frequently experience nosebleeds
What NOT To Do
- Smoke or light a match
- Ignite a naked flame
- Turn electrical switches on or off
- Use a doorbell or other devices that could cause a spark
- Use your mobile phone inside the property
What You MUST do
- Open all doors and windows
- Turn off the gas mains tap
- Leave the property

- Follow ALL advice given by an emergency adviser on the number above
- Wait outside and away from the property for a gas engineer to arrive
- If you feel unwell, please visit your GP/hospital immediately

How to Spot a Water Leak
- Regularly check your water usage to indicate sudden increases
- Noticeable drop in water pressure
- Monitor when your hot water turns on (this can indicate a leak in hot water pipes)
- Puddles around pipes or water tank
- Dampness or water droplets around pipes
- Mould growth
What NOT To Do
- Turn your water back on
- Attempt to fix pipes or plumbing if not experienced
- Open any walls (there may be toxic mould)
What You MUST do
- Turn off your water supply
- Turn off your heating
- Try to find the source of the leak
- Turn off electricity if the leak is near electrics
